Vanaf de oprichting in 1945 helpt MAF met vliegtuigen, communicatie, technologie en specialisten onbereikbare plaatsen in de wereld bereikbaar te maken. MAF bedient meer dan 900 hulporganisaties in afgelegen gebieden van de wereld. MAF heeft een vloot van 130 vliegtuigen in 30 landen in Afrika, Azië, Eurazië en Latijns Amerika. MAF biedt tevens telecommunicatiediensten aan, waaronder satelliet-internettoegang, hoge frequentie radio's en andere draadloze systemen.
MAF Nederland is onderdeel van de internationale organisatie en heeft zelf zeventien piloten, monteurs, managers en specialisten uitgezonden.
